Insurance very expensive. Technology is pretty poor.

Great car - price of electricity in uk makes an electric car similar to run as a petrol car to be honest. Build quality is ok; a bit plastic-y

Not the best family car in the world. Increased energy costs put electric driving on a par with petrol. Back to diesel for my next car.

Firstly, I have to say I love this car. Performance is incredible, like nothing I’ve ever driven before (albeit a fairly dull list – Mondeo, Qashqai, Volvo XC60). The fun I have driving it offsets and helps me ignore a fair few things that would otherwise be fairly major niggles in any other car. The infotainment is second to none (I’ve used), but the absence of physical buttons/stalks for some things is annoying (wipers, fog lights, climate control). You do get used to this though. The auto-wipers are somewhat erratic but no worse than I’ve experienced in other cars. Autopilot is fun to try but I honestly don’t trust it on busy roads; it can be prone to phantom braking so I find it more stressful driving with it on, which is the opposite of the intended effect. Interior space is fine for front seat passengers but my 6 foot son hates long journeys where he’s confined to the back seat; the seat is low and feet can’t go under the front seats. Build quality is only so-so. Materials are decent enough in my opinion but they just aren’t put together well enough. I have taken my car back to Dartford service centre several times to get them to look at rattles in the doors but it has yet to be fixed. I rejected a land rover disco sport for the tiniest of rattles so it really says something about how fun this car is that I haven’t bothered too much about the rattle! Economy is incredible if you are able to charge at home and have a cheap overnight tariff. So far I have done 12.5k miles and it has cost me £213 (including 4 uses of tesla supercharger) – that’s under 2p per mile. That is going to go up of course (I’m on a rate from 2 years ago) but if you can charge at home it will still be much cheaper than an ICE car. If you have to use public chargers then it becomes much more marginal. Go and test drive one, find a clear slip road onto a motorway and push the accelerator. That alone may make your mind up.

Love love love it. Best electric car in my budget. Extremely easy to drive, fast, very comfortable and looks amazing. Hoping I can afford another one when my lease expires. Only one (trivial) point - Tesla, you missed a trick with the sunglass holder... :o)
