To understand what everyone pictures when thinking of their dream car and which car is the most popular, we have analysed search volumes in all 50 states to discover the most popular brands, makes and models. Is the average person in search of the same values when it comes to car shopping?
Our data found that the most popular car model in the USA is an Audi R8, with the majority of states coming out with this model as the most searched. The Audi R8 is a two-seater sports car and was the first car model with full LED headlights when it was released in 2008, introduced in 2006 by German car manufacturer, Audi AG. With Audi’s famous quattro all-wheel drive system and a stunning silhouette design, there's no surprise the Audi R8 is a dream car for most.
The USA’s capital, Washington D.C came out with an Audi R8 as the most popular dream car with an average of 9,900 monthly searches for this luxury car. Several other popular states are taking after the capital for their dream car, including Florida with 33,100 monthly searches, New York with 22,200 and California with the highest monthly searches for an Audi R8 out of all US states analysed, with a huge 60,500 monthly searches.
The Tesla Model S is the second most popular car model in the USA. The Tesla model is the most popular in California with a huge 74,000 monthly searches and also the most popular model in Hawaii, with 1,600 monthly searches. Both states want the Tesla Model S as their next dream car, so if you're lusting after a Tesla, comparing it to other lease offers to suit your finance needs might be the way to go.

Porsche 911 was another car model that had the most monthly search volumes and came out on top in Hawaii, joined with the Tesla Model S, with 1,600 monthly searches. The main features of this car are the sports seats with electric backrest angle and seat height adjustment. The traffic and map also updates in real time with navigation plus installed and the Porsche 911 has a multifunction steering wheel with paddles for manual gear changes.
The most popular car brand in the USA is BMW with 21 states having this brand as their most searched dream car, including Alaska, Indiana and Nevada all wanting a BMW as their next luxury car. BMW stands for Bayerische Motoren Werke AG and is a German multinational manufacturer of luxury vehicles and motorcycles, headquartered in Munich, Bavaria. BMW was founded in 1916, starting as a manufacturer of aircraft engines. The BMW Group is the world's largest premium car maker and is the parent company of the BMW Mini, and Rolls-Royce car brands, so there's no surprise why this brand is the most popular in the US.
Ranking just behind BMW was the Mercedes-Benz brand with the most monthly searches in 19 USA states. From Florida to Louisiana, Mercedes-Benz is the ultimate luxury vehicle to invest in this year. Mercedes-Benz is another German brand known for its selection of luxury cars and is one of the most famous and reliable brands in the world. Mercedes-Benz has come out with a range of designs, including SUVs, sedans, and sports cars that have proven extremely popular among car enthusiasts.
Audi came out as the third most popular car brand in America, ranking as the most searched brand in seven states, including Colorado, Montana, Utah and Vermont. The Audi brand has been a dream car for many, with endless models and styles to choose from. Audi cars are known for their technology, style, and trademade quattro all-wheel drive system. Almost every model includes a high-grade interior and has excellent features every car lover aspires to have.
