The Porsche Macan is a luxury SUV with sports and utility traits but also the practicality of a family car.
The Macan has excellent performance capabilities making it fun-to-drive and a popular alternative to rivals such as the Jaguar F-Pace, Range Rover Evoque, BMW X3, Audi Q5, Mercedes GLC and Volvo XC60.
Our Porsche Macan Review covers:
The Porsche Macan is one of the most desirable looking luxury SUVs on the market. Recently refreshed in 2021, the latest generation model boasts a revised front end with a newly designed front spoiler and an extended rear end black diffuser, making the Macan unmistakable on the road. Porsche's sculpted contours and LED taillight strip also add to the Macan's flashy aesthetic and sports car character.
Inside, the Macan feels just like the Porsche 911 and 718 Cayman, thanks to its first-class materials and advanced driver's cockpit. Despite its relatively sporty shape, this is a genuinely spacious and practical family car leasing option. There's a decent amount of space inside for up to five adults to ride comfortably, with good head and legroom. However, rival SUVs such as the Mercedes GLC and Volvo XC60 offer even more room inside.
As for boot space, the Porsche Macan can hold up to 488 litres, expanding to an impressive 1,503 litres with rear seats folded down. However, if you are after an SUV that can carry more luggage, rivals such as the Jaguar F-Pace offer 650 litres of boot space.
The Macan has a great first-class interior with plenty of high-quality materials, making it feel plusher than rivals, such as the BMW X3. It comes with Porsche's Advanced Cockpit, which gives you fingertip control to all the car's functions. The Direct Touch Control also features an interface in glass, with touch-sensitive buttons for access to the essential functions.
All Macan models come with a 10.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system as standard. The high-definition display is bursting with colours and is very responsive compared to what you find in an Audi Q5 or BMW X3.
The Porsche Macan comes in three trim levels models, including the Macan, Macan S and Macan GTS.
The entry-level Macan model comes with 3D texture Lava Black sideblades, black lower spoiler, exterior colour front apron panel and 19-inch Macan wheels.
The Macan S model adds silver distinctive twin tailpipes and 20-inch Macan S wheels in Dark Titanium.
The top-of-the-range Macan GTS model adds satin black sideblades with a gloss black 'GTS' logo, matt black front apron panel and 21-inch RS Spyder Design wheels in satin black.
Under the bonnet, the Macan comes with two engine options, including a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo engine and a 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 engine.
Entry-level models come with a 248bhp 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo engine, and the Macan S model comes with a 375bhp 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 engine. Top-of-the-range Macan GTS models come with a 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 engine with an uprated power output of 434bhp.
All models come with standard seven-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) transmission, ensuring quick gear changes without interrupting power flow in automatic mode.
Out on the road, the Macan is one of the best cars to drive in its class, thanks to its bespoke suspension, body, and steering.
The SUV comes with conventional springs and dampers as standard, making the car a delight to drive even on rough surfaces.
The Macan also grips to the road excellently, which, when paired with its standard four-wheel drive, allow the vehicle to perform in slippery conditions.
Prices for the new Porsche Macan start from £53,400.00 OTR* or to lease from £640.63 per month.
