The days of the Peugeot 3008 being a mundane family SUV are long gone. Now in its third generation, the 3008 is a stylish SUV with a smart interior, loads of technology, and a hybrid powertrain.
Rivals to the Peugeot 3008 include the Nissan Qashqai, Hyundai Tucson, Ford Kuga, and Kia Sportage.
Our Peugeot 3008 review covers:
The Peugeot 3008 is now in its third generation, and since its inception, it's had one hell of a glow-up. Now a fully-fledged coupe SUV, it has an aggressive front end with three-spoke headlights, subtle creases throughout the body, and a declining roofline.
Although Peugeot has gone all-in on their new i-Cockpit design, there's still plenty of room in the front for two adults. There's ample head and legroom to keep you comfortable on a long journey, and those in the rear shouldn't have too much to complain about, thanks to plenty of knee space.
The 3008's boot space is 520 litres, which should be more than enough for most. It does fall short of the Hyundai Tucson and Kia Sportage, but even so, there's enough room for a weekly shop or luggage for a weekend away.
Climb inside the cabin of the 3008 and you'll be blown away by how smart it looks. There's a nice gloss black trim throughout the car and plenty of premium materials dotted around. The standout feature is its i-Cockpit, which wraps around the driver to create a really engaging driving experience.
Sitting atop the dashboard is a 21-inch display- yes, you heard that right, 21 inches! It's split into two sections, the right for the infotainment system and the left housing the digital instrument display. The screen is easy to read and looks the part, but it's not quite as good as systems you'd find in an Audi or BMW.
Two trims are available for the Peugeot 3008: Allure and GT.
Allure has 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, a 21-inch panoramic curved display, 3D connected navigation, a smartphone wireless charger, keyless entry, and a reversing camera.
GT adds 20-inch Yosemite diamond-cut alloy wheels, pixel LED headlights, a hands-free electric tailgate, adaptive cruise control, a heated steering wheel and front seats, eight-colour ambient lighting, and an Alcantara interior.
One engine is available for the 3008. It's a hybrid powertrain that pairs a 1.2-litre petrol engine with a small battery and electric motor. Although it's not a self-charging hybrid, it offers more than most mild hybrids and can run on pure-electric power for short periods of time.
It returns a power output of 136hp and can shoot from 0 to 62mph in just over ten seconds. For fuel economy, you'll be looking at a figure around the 48mpg mark, depending on where you're driving.
It's paired with a six-speed dual-shift clutch automatic transmission.
On the road, the Peugeot 3008 is a pleasant car to drive. It's very good around town, as you'd expect for a mild hybrid, and can handle its own on the motorway or a country lane.
If you mainly operate in a city or drive your family from A to B, the 3008 will serve you well. The steering is accurate and well-weighted, and the compact dimensions allow you to navigate city streets relatively well. The reversing camera also massively helps in those ridiculously tight inner-city car parks.
As you increase up to motorway speed, the mild-hybrid engine uses battery energy to lend a brief hand when accelerating, meaning there's no issue reaching 70mpg, even with a full car. Once cruising, the 3008 is comfortable to drive and handles bumps in the road very well.
Our only criticism of the 3008 is that there's not a more powerful engine available. The engine sometimes works a bit too hard, which isn't the case with some of its rivals, especially its electric counterpart, the Peugeot e-3008.
