The KGM Musso is a refined pickup truck that's a welcome addition to the market. With a smart interior, a good engine, and superb capabilities, the Musso is perfect for businesses and sole traders.
Rivals to the KGM Musso include the Ford Ranger, Volkswagen Amarok, Isuzu D-Max, and Toyota Hilux.
Our KGM Musso review covers:
The KGM Musso is the definition of a modern pickup truck. It has sleek, aerodynamic lines from front to back, and your eyes will be drawn to the assertive horizontal front grille that makes for a commanding road presence.
The Musso comes standard with five seats, which is ideal for family life or carrying your crew. In the front, the cabin is spacious and luxurious, with ample shoulder and legroom for a pair of adults. The same can be said in the rear; however, it's suited for two passengers rather than three. With the latter, it will feel a little cramped and uncomfortable on a long journey.
The Musso has two load bed options: a standard and an extended version. The standard version measures 1.57m x 1.3m and can carry a payload of up to 1,105kg.
Select the Saracen trim to get the extended load bed. It keeps the width the same but increases the length to 1.61m, allowing it to carry a maximum payload of 1,205kg.
Gone are the days of pickup trucks having rustic cabins. Like its rivals, the Ford Ranger and Volkswagen Amarok, the Musso has a cabin you'd expect to find in a car. It has lovely black trim and plenty of high-quality features, like dual-zone air conditioning and heated front seats.
The Musso has plenty of tech, including a pair of 12.3-inch screens for the infotainment system and digital instrument display. Both display clear graphics and are great to use. However, it's worth noting that they don't come on the standard EX trim. To get the infotainment system, you'll need to upgrade to the Rebel trim and the Saracen trim for the digital display.
Four trim levels are available for the Musso: EX, Rebel, Saracen, and Saracen+.
EX comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, deluxe fabric seats, manual air conditioning, a DAB radio, brake assist, hill start assist, and descent control.
Rebel has side steps, black and silver roof rails, triple LED front fog lights, leather seats, heated and ventilated front seats, a 12.3-inch HD screen, and a rear-view camera.
Saracen adds black alloy wheels, black finished exterior details, front and rear parking sensors, rear door privacy glass, premium Nappa leather seats, automatic dual-zone air conditioning, a 12.3-inch digital cluster, electronic cruise control, and blind spot detection.
Saracen+ comes with the biggest load bed.
The Musso has a 2.2-litre diesel engine that is paired with either a six-speed manual transmission (on the EX version only) or a six-speed automatic.
It returns a power output of 200hp, topping out at 116mph and going from 0 to 62mph in just under 12 seconds.
The Musso is a pretty decent pickup truck to drive. Whether you're heading to an inner-city job or one in the countryside, it feels responsive and surprisingly agile for a van of its size. You also get four-wheel drive, which is standard across the range.
Around town, the steering is light, making it easy to manoeuvre, and technology such as a rear-view camera and parking sensors is handy.
If you find yourself off-road, the Musso comes into its own. You're able to conquer the toughest of conditions thanks to its four-wheel drive and active roll-over protection, ensuring the safety of you and your crew.
There's also three drive modes to choose from, Normal, Sport, and Winter. Normal balanced economy and power, Sport delivers extra power, and Winter starts the car in second gear to prevent slippage when it's icy.
Prices for the new KGM Musso start from £31,578.00 OTR* or to lease from £412.83 per month.
