The Genesis G70 Saloon is a great-looking, well-equipped saloon with the latest technology, much of which is standard.
Rivals to the Genesis G70 include the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Kia Stinger, Alfa Romeo Giulia and Tesla Model 3.
Our Genesis G70 Saloon review covers:
Genesis is a premium brand from the Hyundai Motor Group, taking on the established names of BMW, Mercedes, Audi and Lexus with their Genesis G70. The Genesis G70 has an elegant exterior design with sleek lines, and a crest grille positioned lower than the Quad Lamps, expressing its agility and turning heads on the road.
Inside the Genesis G70, the interior is clean and uncluttered, but practicality isn't the best, as the head and legroom in the rear seats are pretty tight, not leaving much room to manoeuvre.
As for boot space, the G70 isn't as good as its rivals, only offering 330 litres which is well behind the BMW 3 Series and Audi A4's 480 litres, as well as the Mercedes C-Class's 455 litres.
The Genesis G70 has a great interior with impressive build quality and no outlandish trimmings or eye-catching dashboard design, just a sensibly laid-out cabin that's easy to navigate. The clean, uncluttered, make the high-technology accessible and allow for a pleasurable driver experience.
There's a 10.25-inch wide display with GUI (graphical user interface) exclusively developed for Genesis that supports a range of easy-to-access cutting edge functions and a wide viewing angle. It also has a built-in satnav, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring.
Three trim levels are available, including Premium, Luxury and Sport.
Premium models come with dual-LED headlights, heated and folding electric wing mirrors, chrome detailing and automatic air conditioning. It also comes with an 8.0-inch driver's display, a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen, leatherette seat trim, perforated leather steering wheel with metal trim and 18-inch alloy wheels for petrol versions and 17-inch alloys for diesel models.
Luxury models get 18-inch alloy wheels, electronic control rear boot opening, leather seat upholstery, a perforated leather steering wheel, heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel.
Sport models add 19-inch alloy wheels, a sporty body kit, dark-tinted chrome detailing, Brembo brakes and coloured brake callipers. It also adds a heated steering wheel, metal pedals, heated leather seats and a premium interior air filter.
Under the bonnet, Genesis offers a limited engine range for the G70 with a choice of petrol and diesel options.
The choice of engines are a 2.2-litre diesel engine or a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol.
The 2.2-litre diesel engine option has a 43.5mpg, making it the best option if you spend most of your time on the motorway.
The petrol options are available with either 194hp or 241hp. The lower-output engine has more than enough power, but the additional 50hp is noticeable if you want a sportier saloon. Both petrol engines use an eight-speed automatic gearbox and return 35.4mpg.
The Genesis G70 is decent to drive, with great Manoeuvrability around town, nicely-weighted steering, and good visibility. However, comfort levels aren't as good as rivals such as the Mercedes C-Class, with a few too many knocks and bumps from the road coming into the cabin.
Overall, the Genesis G70 is an excellent saloon leasing option that looks good and is well-equipped with the latest technology. However, if you are after a more premium option, you are best looking at the Audi A4 and Mercedes-Benz C-Class.
Prices for the new Genesis G70 start from £31,700.00 OTR* or to lease from £413.85 per month.
