How cool would it be to drive a Batmobile? It’s the ultimate superhero car, jet-black, lightning-fast, and features state-of-the-art gadgets. Villains of Gotham, beware!
The Batmobile first appeared in Detective Comics #27 all the way back in 1939, and since then, it’s gone through loads of changes and tweaks.
With such an array of amazing vehicles, we thought it would be a good idea to explore the five best Batmobiles of all time. Check out the list below:
Although Batman vs Superman was a relatively underwhelming film, it made up for this with a brilliant Batmobile. A more futuristic version of the Tumbler (see below) that appeared in the Dark Knight Trilogy, the Batmobile in this film is an absolute tank.
It’s got a robust appearance that frankly looks designed for a warzone.
It’s a shame the Tumbler isn’t higher on this list because it’s an absolute classic. In my opinion, the Dark Knight Trilogy is one of the best trilogies of all time, only enhanced by the appearance of the Tumbler.
Originally made by the Assisted Sciences Division at Wayne Enterprises, Bruce asked for it in black, and the rest is history. Who can forget the police chase scene in The Dark Knight when the Tumbler saves Harvey Dent from the Joker?
This is for all you classic Batman fans out there! The Batmobile that appeared in the 1966 Batman film was ridiculously iconic. A long saloon car formed from a 1955 Ford concept called the Lincoln Futura, the Batmobile looks absolutely stunning.
Although lacking any of the advanced features of later Batmobiles, the 1966 version stands out with its red highlights around the car, convertible roof, and spaceship-like design.
The latest edition in the Batman franchise, the 2022 film directed by Matt Reeves, got the Batmobile absolutely spot on. It’s everything you want from a Batmobile; it looks amazing, sounds amazing, and just is amazing. Can you tell I like it?
A modified muscle car that looks something out of Mad Max, I’d say that this edition is the best-looking Batmobile ever.
If you imagined a Batmobile, I reckon you’d picture something like the version driven by Michael Keaton in the pair of films directed by Tim Burton. It’s undoubtedly the Batmobile that most people would recognise.
What makes this version stand out from the rest is its aesthetic. A long car with smooth and silky design principles, the Batmobile is a thing of beauty that perfectly matches Burton’s gothic portrayal of Gotham.
Add to this with grappling hooks, a voice-activated shield, and afterburners, and this edition of the Batmobile is a serious feat of engineering.
