Skoda has released details of its upcoming Skoda Octavia vRS 245, the most powerful and most dynamic Skoda Octavia in the company’s history, delivering 245PS, a 0-62mph acceleration in just 6.6 seconds and a limited top speed of 155mph. All this plus internal space, great connectivity and infotainment and numerous 'Simply Clever' features – the new ŠKODA OCTAVIA vRS 245.
Design
Although the Skoda Octavia may not have a sporty reputation, the new vRS 245 aims to change all that with some particularly sporty details like a gloss-black finish on the radiator grille’s vertical slats and frame, a bold horizontal bumper, redesigned headlight clusters, fog lights, tail lights and number plate illumination in a crystalline look feature full-LED technology, and an AFS adaptive front light system as standard.
Sporty black housings around the electrically adjustable wing mirrors (complete with memory function and puddle lights ), an RS logo on the radiator grille and the tailgate, spoilers, and a distinctive exhaust sound complete the sporty additions .
Both the Skoda Octavia Hatchback and the Estate are genuine family cars alongside the sportiness, demonstrated by the extended width, length and wheelbase of the vRS 245, creating not only an impressive passenger interior space, but also a loading floor capable of transporting bulky items with ease.
The Skoda Octavia vRS 245 and Skoda Octavia Estate vRS 245 are available in a choice of four body colours: Corrida Red, Moon White, Magic Black and Meteor Grey.
Interior
Inside both models, the generous interior is predominately black in colour, with the Alcantara® sports seats bearing the vRS logo alongside the front door sills. The driver’s seat features red or grey topstitching, is electrically adjustable, offers lumbar support and has a memory function which saves three seat positions.
The vRS features a multifunction sports steering wheel with perforated leather and integrated steering wheel paddles (for DSG transmissions) as well as controls for the radio and telephone (Bluetooth). THere is also the option to have it heated.
And when it comes to the instrument cluster, an LED ambient light that can be set to 10 different colours surrounds the colour Maxi-DOT display.
Drive and chassis
Under the bonnet of the new Skoda Octavia vRS 245 we find a 245 PS four cylinder TSI petrol engine, offering 15PS more than the most powerful variant of the current vRS model. Maximum torque of 370 Nm is achieved between 1,600 and 4,300 rpm.
You can chose from a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed, dual-clutch transmission, and it offers an average fuel consumption of just 44.1 mpg (42.8 mpg with a 6-speed manual gearbox), with CO2 emissions of 146 and 150 g/km respectively.
The sports chassis lowers the body of the vRS 245 is lower than other vRS models, and standard wheel fittings are 19" in diameter.
ESC with Sport mode and Performance Mode Select come as standard to aid driving, along with an optional adaptive Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC), with electrically operated valves adjusting the dampers’ settings. Three modes - Comfort, Standard and Sport - do this.

All of the above combine to make the new Skoda Octavia vRS 245 as safe as possible, aided by five three-point seat belts, Isofix options, up to nine airbags, top tether anchor points and tyre pressure monitoring as standard.
Infotainment systems
Four systems are available: Swing music system (as standard), Bolero music system, Amundsen navigation infotainment system and Columbus navigation infotainment system. All four come with a digital start screen, touch controls, and quality displays.
The Columbus navigation system is at the top of the range with a 9.2" 1280 × 640 resolution screen, a 64-GB flash memory, DVD drive and an optional LTE module, which supplies the occupants with high-speed Internet (download at up to 150 Mbit per second).
The mobile online services from ŠKODA Connect ideally complement the infotainment offering, and are divided into two categories: The newly available Infotainment Online services for information and entertainment, and Care Connect services for driver assistance and remote vehicle access.
