SEAT have been busy this year. Having already upgraded the Leon and released the new Ibiza, the Spanish car manufacturer has released the first SEAT model in the compact crossover segment: The New SEAT Arona.
Ahead of the release of a full size (and larger) SUV model next year, the new Arona combines the advantages of a compact city car on the streets with crossover ability once out of city limits, complete with updated safety and connectivity technology.
Longer and taller than the aforementioned Ibiza, the new Arona offers not only higher ground clearance for those off-road adventures, but also more front and rear headroom, and a larger boot. Driving position is higher to give a better view of the road, and all-round everyone has more space - and therefore more comfort - meaning that the journey is better and more relaxing, helped by dual-coloured (red and white) ambient indoor LED light and dual-zone climate control with an aircare filter.
Following the Ibiza, Leon and Ateca, the New SEAT Arona is available in Reference, Style, FR & XCELLENCE trim options, each with their own specs and improvements, wit FR trim including dual-mode suspension, and the SEAT Drive Profile with four modes: Normal, Sport, Eco and Individual.
The new SEAT Arona is robust without being aggressive, as Alejandro Mesonero, Design Director at SEAT, explains: "We wanted to give the New SEAT Arona the distinct feel of a crossover, a sturdy car for everyday life, for the urban jungle. That's why it features such strong protection in the bumpers, the wheel arches and the dark coloured rubber side skirts, as well as the roof rack and the aluminium look-like protection at the bottom of the bumpers".
It has its own look and personality, and is designed to give drivers confidence as well comfort. The High Console Concept also gives the console more prominence, with every element carefully positioned so that the driver barely has to look away from the road while driving. Everything is within reach, allowing for easy adjustments and increased safety. In terms of connectivity, Arona features Apple Car Play, Android Auto and Mirror Link, and also has all of the driving assistance and infotainment systems you know and love from other SEAT models, such as:
- Front Assist
- Adaptive Cruise Control
- Hill Hold control
- Tiredness Recognition System
- Auto lights and wipers
- Multi-Collision Braking
- Keyless Entry and Start System
- High-quality rear camera
- Premium 8" black panel touchscreen
- Connectivity Hub with Wireless Phone Charger and GSM signal amplifier
- Optional Rear Traffic Alert, Blind Spot Detection and Park Assistance System
All of the engines available in the New SEAT Arona range have direct injection, a turbocompressor, and feature an automatic stop & start system, and there are three different petrol engines to choose from and two diesel.
- A three-cylinder, 95PS 1.0 TSI petrol linked to a five-speed manual gearbox
- A three-cylinder, 115PS 1.0 TSI petrol with a six-speed manual gearbox or the dual-clutch seven-speed DSG transmission
- A new four-cylinder, 150PS TSI petrol with active cylinder deactivation technology connected to a six-speed manual gearbox.
- A 95PS 1.6 STDI diesel paired with a five-speed manual transmission or seven-speed DSG

While every model in the SEAT line-up, the new SEAT Arona has a dynamic, versatile, technological and sporty character, but with this model you find has a more spacious interior and a wider range of possible uses.
