The start of each calendar year is always exciting. New year's resolutions, optimism for the year you've got in store, and for us petrolheads, getting excited about the new cars hitting the roads.
2024 looks like it will be a crackerjack year for the car industry, with new cars coming thick and fast.
To help build up that excitement a bit more, this blog explores the five most anticipated cars of 2024.
The Renault 5 was revealed as a concept way back in the COVID-gripped world of 2021, and we've been thinking about it ever since.
A small electric car that Renault has designed to be fun and affordable, the Renault 5 has been touted as the EV of the people. The 5 will come with either a 40kWh or 50kWh battery, the latter of which can achieve up to 248 miles of range.
Keep your eyes peeled for the Renault 5 as it takes centre stage at the Geneva Motor Show on the 26 February before going on sale in the summer.
A two-door convertible electric sports car from MG, what's not to like? The Cyberster is the first MG sports car in 12 years, and we cannot wait to see what it's like.
Under the bonnet, there's a choice of either a single or double motor set-up. The single-motor version packs an impressive 314hp and goes from 0-62mph in five seconds, while the dual-motor version comes in at a whopping 540hp and gets to 62mph in just 3.5 seconds! It also comes with a range of at least 300 miles.
The Cyberster is set to arrive in the UK in the summer of 2024.
I'm English, like my cars, and love history, so how could I not include the new Mini Cooper? Revealed to the world back in 2023, the fifth-generation Mini Cooper looks absolutely fantastic.
Although still available with a petrol engine, all eyes have been on the electric version. Available in two models, Cooper Electric E and Cooper Electric SE, two powertrains are available. The first combines a 40.7kWh battery and 181bhp motor to get up to 190 miles of range, while the other uses a 54.2kWh battery with a 215bhp motor to achieve up to 250 miles of range.
It'll also come with a 9.4-inch circular touchscreen infotainment system on the dashboard.
Aston teased the Valhalla back in 2019, then again in 2021, but it's finally set to enter production in 2024.
Coming with a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine flat-plane crankshaft that's joined by a pair of electric motors, Aston claims a total power output of 1,003bhp that will propel the car from 0-62mph in just 2.5 seconds.
You better act quickly if you want to get your hands on a Valhalla, with just 999 models being built.
If I had to describe the Fiat Topolino in one word, it would be 'vibes'. A tiny two-seater EV that comes in at 2.53 metres in length, the Topolini is designed for city driving.
It comes with a 6kW electric motor and a 5.5kWh battery that returns up to 47 miles of range and a top speed of 28mph. You'll also be able to choose from a closed or open top version, with the latter getting unique door sills and door rope.
The Topolino will go on sale in the UK in 2024. However, no date has been confirmed yet.
