Car video games were once the go-to source of entertainment for gamers across the globe. Nothing beats getting behind the wheel against your friends and battling it out, virtually, of course!
In recent years, car games have gone by the wayside, but could 2024 be the year of the car game?
Our blog explores some of the best and most exciting car games arriving in 2024.
The EA Sports F1 games have been a mainstay on the gaming calendar since the year 2000. While the official release date for F1 2024 hasn't been released yet, we're almost certain the franchise will continue.
F1 2024 will have all the upcoming season's fully licensed teams, tracks, and drivers. We also hope Braking Point will return, but nothing has been revealed yet.
I'd expect to see F1 2024 around late June or early July.
Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown has been one of the most highly anticipated car games for some time now. After being teased in 2020, the game is still yet to be released. After four (very) long years, the game is expected to finally be released in 2024.
The game is set on Hong Kong Island, with a whopping 375 miles of road to play with. According to RacingGames, the developers revealed it will take 100 hours of playtime to unlock the hypercar class, so clear your schedule!

The 24 Hours of Le Mans provides the perfect setting for a racing game, so it's a modern-day mystery why there hasn't been one for over two decades. However, in February, the wait comes to an end!
Developed by Motorsport Games, Le Mans Ultimate will include all drivers, teams, and tracks from the 2023 World Endurance Championship. It will also include 'cutting-edge physics'! Sounds great, right?

Although not officially your typical racing game, we've included Expeditions in this list purely because of how cool it looks. Instead of racing against other players, you're thrown into a range of terrains for the purpose of scientific exploration.
From arid deserts to dense forests, Expeditions will test your adaptability, strategy, and patience. Check out the trailer below:
If the name 'Japanese Drift Master' isn't a good enough reason to buy this game, then I don't know what is! An open-world game, you play as a foreigner who wants to make a name for himself within the Japanese drifting scene.
Take in the automotive culture of Japan, thanks to miles of urban streets and mountain roads. Although the cars aren't licensed, they look and sound like the originals, which is good enough for us!
We love a play on words here, and Wreckreation is a name that we simply can't get enough of. Not only is it a great name, but it also looks like a fantastic game.
With just about all things racing possible, you can take on friends in traditional races, banger races, and insane stunt races (the latter of which is the game's unique selling point).
Developed by THQ Nordic, Wreckreation uses similar game physics to Wreckfest that made it so popular. Here's the trailer:
