The all-new version of the best-selling Audi Q5 SUV is now available to order for leasing from Nationwide Vehicle Contracts, with first deliveries due in April worldwide in either SE, Sport or S line specification, with the new option of air suspension just one of the wealth of advancements on the new model.
More comfortable, more agile, more efficient, more protective and better connected: what's not to like about the new Audi Q5?
Design
Audi's quattro design language makes sure that the new SUV from Audi is sculptured beautifully and solidly with a flared Singleframe grille at the aerodynamically flat front end kicking it all off. Fitted with Xenon headlights as standard on SE and Sport models and all-weather LED headlights with a signature Q design on S line, there is also the option of high-resolution Matrix LED lamps with dynamic indicators available on all models.
Horizontal lines at the rear add to the feel of width and presence that is enhanced by the side view, the tailgate wraps around the C-pillars like all Audi Q models with a diffuser insert integrating the exhaust tailpipes, before the tail lights - available with optional dynamic indicators – finish off the style.
Longer (even in wheelbase), wider and taller than its predecessor, the new Q5 has grown in nearly all ways - except weight. Depending on engine, unladen weight can be reduced by as much as 90kg thanks to an intelligent mix of maximum tensile strength steels and aluminium.
Less weight can mean greater speed, and in the case of the new Q5, it does, thanks to the aerodynamically optimised roof. And thanks to some of the best interior acoustics in its class, Q5 drivers can enjoy speed without excessive vibration.
Interior
Thanks to those extra dimensions, and some uncompromising layout construction and quality, the new Audi Q5 has space for 5 people comfortably; and in nice-looking surroundings with 30-colour ambient lighting.
There is a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel as standard, a three-split-section rear seat, and boot space of between 550 and 650 litres, depending on rear seat angles. This increases to 1550 litres with the rear seat folded down, making access via the power-operated tailgate as standard as easy as pie. Options include a variably folding mat, hands-free control of the power tailgate and manual lowering of the body via the optional air suspension.
On the dashboard, the optional Audi virtual cockpit boasts a high-resolution 12.3" screen on which the driver can choose from two views – a classic view with large round instruments and a mode in which the navigation map or lists dominate.
The main infotainment controls in the Q5 are dealt with by the 8.3" screened MMI terminal in the centre console acts as the main control element. This itself can be upgraded with MMI all-in-touch that incorporates an interactive touchpad, but already intelligent free-text search and a new natural-language voice control function.
The new Audi Q5, like the Q7 and the A4, has a self-learning “personal route assist” function that learns regular routes and remembers them, even to the extent that it can remind you where to park at a certain time of day. It can even offer suggestions as to the best route to use for a particular journey using information it has gleaned from previous trips.
Sport and S line models take advantage of an SD-card based MMI Navigation system, supplemented by a three-month free trial of the Audi connect suite of services.
Audi phone box connects smartphones to the vehicle’s antenna to make sure that reception quality is always at an optimal standard, and it also charges them.

The 2.0 TDI 190PS engine's fuel efficiency offers up to 56.5mpg combined with a low of 132g/km of emissions, depending on wheel size, while the upcoming revised 3.0 TDI will increase output to 286PS with 620Nm of torque.
Using the newly developed five-link suspensions and the new electromechanical power steering system with dynamic steering as an option, driving is a sporty joy, and the new optional adaptive air suspension can be used to vary the ride height of the car body over five stages.
