Featuring a petrol-electric self-charging powertrain, the all-new Ford Mondeo Vignale Estate Hybrid joins the popular Mondeo range
Initially revealed at the Brussels Motor Show back in January, the new Ford Mondeo Vignale Estate Hybrid is now available to lease from Nationwide Vehicle Contracts.
Featuring a petrol-electric self-charging powertrain, eight-speed rotary dial automatic transmission, new Mondeo Adaptive Cruise Control technology that features Stop & Go functionality and an Intelligent Speed Limiter, the new Ford Mondeo Hybrid is a unique offering in its segment.
Power Behind The Throne
The new Mondeo Vignale Estate Hybrid is all about the powertrain which offers the driving range and freedom offered by a traditional combustion engine with the efficiency and refinement of an electric powertrain.
The 1.4kWh lithium-ion battery is constantly being recharged by the specially-developed 2.0-litre Atkinson cycle petrol engine, with up to 90% of the energy normally lost during braking captured by the regenerative braking technology.
This enhanced powertrain software is also more effective at using the engine’s torque to deliver greater fuel efficiency and performance as it delivers its 187PS.
Being a hybrid, the new Ford Mondeo Vignale Estate Hybrid has CO2 emissions of between 98g/km and 108g/km depending on model. Fuel consumption is estimated at 58.9mpg, with initial 0-62mph acceleration at 9.2 seconds to a top speed of 116mph
Along with this technological wonder of an engine, the Ford Mondeo Hybrid also introduces Ford’s SmartGauge interface for monitoring fuel and energy consumption, Brake Coach that encourages gradual braking to help return more energy to the battery, electric power-assisted steering, electrically-powered air-conditioning, powertrain cooling and vacuum systems, and a specially-developed exhaust gas heat recovery system that enables faster cabin warming.
Ford’s new eight-speed automatic transmission is available with Adaptive Shift Scheduling and Adaptive Shift Quality Control, while a six-speed manual transmission is also available along with Ford’s Intelligent All-Wheel Drive technology.
The Design of Executive Style
Throughout the elegant updates to all Mondeo models' exterior and interior design, four-door, five-door and wagon models are available, with visual differences between the Mondeo Zetec Edition, Titanium Edition, ST-Line Edition and Vignale series.
Overall changes to the design include:
- A contemporary new front end design in an enhanced upper trapezoidal grille shape with a deeper visual effect, with the Vignale boasting an exclusive satin silver “flying-V” finish
- A revised lower front grille design that blends into the new fog-light surrounds on all Vignale models
- New fog-light and LED daytime running-light designs
- A sporty new bumper fascia with more pronounced lower lip spoiler
- New C-shaped tail lights
- New seat fabrics
- New door handle appliques
- New unique decorative spears
An Effortless Driving Experience
The Ford Mondeo Hybrid also offers a unique driving experience enhanced by technologies that helps the driver.
Adaptive Cruise Control technology allows the Hybrid to automatically maintain a comfortable driving distance from vehicles ahead, and is further enhanced with Stop & Go functionality that can bring the vehicle to a complete halt in stop-start traffic, and automatically pull away if the stopping duration is less than 3 seconds.
The Intelligent Speed Limiter combines Ford’s Speed Limiter and Traffic Sign Recognition technologies to keep the car legally correct on the road by using a windscreen-mounted camera to monitor road signs including speed limits.
The Ford SYNC 3 communications and entertainment system with 8" colour touchscreen allows the driver to control audio, navigation and climate functions plus connected smartphones using simple voice commands as well as pinch and swipe gestures. As you would expect, SYNC 3 is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto™.
The new estate body style provides 403 litres load capacity beneath the cargo cover for Mondeo Hybrid customers with the rear seats in place, and up to 1,508 litres with the rear seats folded, along with additional storage that is concealed beneath the load floor.
